RTTSS IS CHRIST CENTERED AND ROOTED IN CHRIST, HIS WORD, HIS WILL, HIS SPIRIT.
Do Not Be Afraid, Only Believe
Leviticus 25:20–21; Mark 5:36
Key Verses
“But if you say, ‘What are we going to eat in the seventh year if we do not sow or gather in our crops?’ then I will so order My blessing for you in the sixth year that it will bring forth the crop for three years.” — Leviticus 25:20–21 (NASB 2020)
“But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official, ‘Do not be afraid, only believe.’” — Mark 5:36 (NASB 2020)
Leviticus 25 asks Israel to do something that doesn’t feel safe. Let the land rest. Don’t sow. Don’t reap. Trust Me.
And God anticipates the question: What are we going to eat?
That question isn’t rebellion. It’s fear. It’s the voice of logic. It’s the instinct to secure yourself before you obey.
God’s answer isn’t a detailed explanation. It’s a promise. I will command the blessing. I will provide enough. You won’t starve because you trusted Me.
Then in Mark 5, Jairus hears the words every parent dreads — your daughter is dead. And Jesus says immediately, before fear can settle in, “Do not be afraid, only believe.”
Same pattern.
Circumstances say it’s over.
Logic says it’s too late.
Fear starts forming conclusions.
And God calls for belief.
Leviticus deals with crops and survival.
Mark deals with death and grief.
But underneath both is the same issue — will you trust God when obedience or hope feels risky?
God does not always remove the uncertainty first. Sometimes He speaks into it.
Fear is loud.
But so is God’s promise.
And the question doesn’t really change:
When provision looks thin — will I believe?
When the news sounds final — will I believe?
God has always asked His people to trust Him beyond what they can calculate.

Prayer
Father,
You see how quickly fear rises in me when I cannot control the outcome.
Teach me to trust Your provision and Your power when circumstances say otherwise.
Help me to obey even when I don’t see how it will work.
Guard my heart from fear that drowns out Your voice.
Strengthen my faith to believe what You have promised.
Amen.
